Overview
Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert campus, invites applications for an Instructor to teach a youth introductory Welding course. The appointments will commence March 20, 2023 and end March 24, 2023 (subject to minimum enrolment). Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale.
Duties: The Instructor will deliver an introductory welding course to youth during spring break. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure shop safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required. The program will provide students with the basic technical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Qualifications
Journeyperson Certification, Grade 12 or equivalent, and a minimum 5 years of varied field experience as a trades Journeyperson and teaching experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a Provincial Instructor Diploma, other relevant certifications and demonstrated enthusiasm for their trade. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor young learners
Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities is an asset
Well-developed classroom and shop management techniques with an emphasis on safety
Demonstrated ability to represent CMTN and work collaboratively with external stakeholders
Intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and email)
