Alumicor Limited

The Intermediate Fabrication Technician will prepare and manufacture standard Alumicor hardware and products from documentation, sketches and drawings. He/She may be required to carry out preparation work for customized Alumicor products. The Intermediate Fabrication Technician will also be required to do any and all tasks deemed necessary by his/her Team Lead/supervisor for the safe and efficient operation of the company, including but not limited to operating a variety of tools; equipment and machinery. Shift work is required.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacture standard Alumicor products in a safe, efficient and quality minded manner

Carry out preparation work which including but not limited to: standard cutting according to work order, and assembly

Application of structural silicone glazing and wet seal

Check material for conformance prior to fabricating

Perform first line and occasional final line quality inspection and control

Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner; change over, preventive maintenance, start up and shut down procedures

Adhere to all Alumicor policies, procedures, notices and instructions

Maintain good housekeeping practices in work area using the 5s + 1 principles

Actively participate and support continuous improvement initiatives

Location, shifts, duties and responsibilities may be amended from time to time in order to support efficient company operations

Complete all production related paperwork, including but not limited to, KPI data collection and requisitioning of material accurately and efficiently

Material movement and stock up orders as required

Fully understand the work order for standard jobs

Perform glazing for glazed product to Alumicor standards

Develop shop aids and procedures to complete simple projects

Carry out simple preparation work for customized products as requested

Assist in the production of mock-ups

Perform basic welding of doors

Identify the profiles of the parts in working area

Perform quality checks of the finished product as per Alumicor standards

May assist in the development of work instructions and practices

Provide training to new and/or junior employees with a focus on performing work in a safe, efficient, quality minded manner as needed

Competencies and Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

Fabrication experience in a similar industry is required

Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures

Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner

A good command of the English language (read, write, speak) with respect to understanding and following all verbal and written instructions and independently if needed under general supervision

Commitment to quality and safety

Ability to work independently under little to no supervision and complete daily activities according to work schedule

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, may be required to walk and stand for long periods

Must hold a valid operation certificate in good standing, where operation of equipment requires certification

Working Conditions

Requires good manual dexterity

Job requires ability to work with a variety of equipment and tools

Walk and stand for long periods

Must be able to use abdominal and lower back muscles to lift, push, pull or carry objects, of up to 50 lbs for 50 feet, unassisted

Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be required

Plant environment, regularly working near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that include heat and humidity, and exposure to dust

Work both indoors and outdoors

Noise level is generally loud

Overtime as required
