Job Description – Ironworker (1 – 2 Year Apprentices)

Most work is local, but may require some travel.

Specific Skills:

  • Signal crane operators to position units according to blueprints; inspect or test structures and equipment for deterioration, defects or failure to comply with specifications or regulations.
  • Align and bolt units in place, unload and position steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed, position and secure steel bars or metal mesh in concrete forms to reinforce concrete structures
  • Erect structural steel

Major Work Area:

  • New construction (pre-engineered)

Tools required:

  • Steel-toed safety boots; Hard hat; Safety glasses/goggles; Safety harness; Gloves

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Dangerous; Outdoors; Varying heights; Wet/d& Noisy; Hot/Cold
  • Fast-paced environment; Handling heavy loads; Physically demanding; Attention to detail; Standing for extended periods; Bending, crouching, kneeling;
  • Team player; Dependability; Reliability; Organized
  • Hardworking, punctual and reliable
  • Work with minimum supervision
  • Must have valid class 5 drivers license and personal vehicle
  • Must adhere to all company safety policies
  • CWB TICKET would be an asset
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate; Occupational Health and Safety Certificate; First Aid Certificate; CPR Certificate; Forklift Operator Certification; Fall Arrest Protection Training Course and AWP/EWP Operator a must; Working at heights training
  • Experience 1 – 2 years (Registered Apprentice)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
