The Opportunity
Full-time temporary career opportunities for Ironworker Journeypersons at the CNRL Albian energy site with AECOM Energy Operations & Maintenance team!
This is a fly-in/fly-out position and as such will be subject to the Government of Canada’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements:
Effective October 30, travellers departing from Canadian airports, and travellers on VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains, will be required to be fully vaccinated in order to travel. To allow travellers time to become fully vaccinated, there will be a short transition period where they will be able to travel if they show a valid COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of travel as an alternative to providing proof of full vaccination. That transition period will end on November 30. If travellers have not already started the vaccination process, or do not start soon, they risk not qualifying for travel as of November 30th.
What Will You Work On?
Ironworkers fabricate, construct and join scaffolding, structural steel buildings, bridges, ornamental ironwork and pre-cast structures. They erect structural steel components, reinforce steel and install conveyors and robotic equipment, sometimes performing reconstructive work on existing structures.
Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work
- Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed
- Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks and other hoisting equipment
- Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials
- Attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios
- Position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts
- Check the alignments and join steel parts by bolting or tack welding them with an electric arc process
- Assemble and erect pre-fabricated metal structures
- Select, cut, bend, position and secure steel bars or wire mesh in concrete forms to reinforce the concrete
- Install ornamental and other structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings and power doors
- Unload and install pre-cast components
Who Are We Looking For?
- Journeyperson Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO) (Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09) Certification can be submitted if taken before January 2019)
- OSSA or Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection
- OSSA or Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space
- Proof of being fully vaccinated or valid COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of travel
