PakFab Engineered Solutions is a North American company with a world class team of packaging experts. We design, program-manage, fabricate, source, retro-fit, repair/service, and breakdown/recycle all types of packaging – metal, plastic, foam, bags, bulk/standard bins and a variety of custom dunnage. We provide solutions to a variety of industries: automotive, industrial, alternate energy, electronic and aerospace.

Position Summary

The position of Jig/Fixture Welder includes but is not limited to produce jigs for mass production to ensure our production lines will run quickly and effectively. In addition, at times maybe required to weld production racks, service & repair welding, prototype building, and fitter welding. Responsibilities will be the fabrication of jigs and fixtures in a high paced production environment. The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal products. This position will work with Group Leaders and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG welding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Produce jigs and fixtures for mass production to ensure production runs quickly and effectively
  • Cut own material to produce jigs and fixtures
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG or plasma arc welding, oxyacetylene welding
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as metal straightening and bending machines
  • Use of Band Saw and Iron Work
  • Occasionally required to build small runs with minimal jigs and/or do repairs/mods to racks as business needs require
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and PakFab policies
  • Other assigned work as required

Requirements

  • 3+ year experience of jig/fixture making experience
  • 3 + years of fitting experience
  • 3+ years of MIG welding experience
  • Demonstrated experience using SolidWorks (SWX) to design laser cut profiles
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production shop
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally

Work Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. CSA approved steel-toed safety boots, weld helmet, etc.
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Aylmer, ON N5H 3H3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

  • jig/fixture: 3 years (preferred)
  • using SolidWorks (SWX): 1 year (preferred)
