JOB DESCRIPTION

Journeyman welder persons are responsible for performing planned and breakdown maintenance/repair/installations to mobile and stationary equipment or facilities, ensuring that all work is completed in a safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective manor.

RESPONSIBILITIES & PREFORMANCE STANDARDS

Ensure that welding of equipment, machinery maintenance and repairs are carried out effectively an safely as determined by work orders and standard operating procedures.

Diagnosing and troubleshooting of welding machines.

Stick and wire feed.

Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.

Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis.

Welding and repair of machinery and equipment, structural construction welding and any other welding duties assigned by the maintenance foreman.

Fabricating.

Knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to hot work procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Alberta Journeyman/Red Seal welder Certificate is required.

A current Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR is an asset but not required.

Experience

A minimum of 2 years industrial experience working on equipment or installations relevant to a Coal Processing Plant.

Work well in a team environment.

As required, help develop apprentice trades persons, including delegating tasks or projects that will assist with their skill development, so the individual can provide greater support and meet apprenticeship requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of industry design practices, codes and safety standards.

Good communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.

Demonstrated sound work ethics and commitment to safety.

The incumbent will work at the CST Coal Mine Site on a 7 / 7, 12 hour day / night rotation.

No camp available, you are be required to hold residence, on some level, in the town of Grande Cache for the duration of your work rotation.

Hourly employees, required to sign on for membership with the United Mine workers of America (UMWA) for a onetime $200.00 initiation fee, and $81.63 per month.

$47.71 per hour.

$1.10 per hour night shift premium.

$450.00 per year for boot/clothing allowance. ($17.31 bi weekly taxable, benefit)

$1,1440.00 per year tool allowance ($44.00 bi-weekly, taxable benefit)

$600.00 per month Trades Allowance ($300.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)

$500.00 per month Living Allowance ($250.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)

$500.00 per year Fitness Benefit
