Job Purpose

The Journeyman Tacker is responsible for the assistance in fabricating pipe. Fusing pieces together by bridge tacking with the SMAW process. Other duties include grinding/prepping pipe, loading/unloading positioners, and tag lining/craning of pipe and fitting.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Comply with Academy HSE program
  • Displays a commitment to Academy’s safety program, values, and culture
  • Reads specifications and WPS data sheets
  • Fuse metal components using the SMAW process
  • Grind, cut and drill material
  • Operate tools and equipment including overhead cranes and oxy-acetylene torches
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings
  • Complete tasks with minimal NCR’s
  • Properly and consistently follow established procedures
  • Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
  • Maintains good housekeeping in work area
  • Report personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required
  • Consistently follow and encourage shop rules
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule

Requirements

  • B Pressure Ticket (minimum 5 years)
  • 3+ years of experience working in a fabrication shop
  • Knowledge of best practices within the industry
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • English language fluency is required
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs and be physically able to complete fabrication shop labour
  • Must have a valid CSTS-09 (Construction Safety Training Systems) certification
  • Must possess WHMIS 2015 certification
