Pump Projects Inc. is a fabrication and pumping solutions company specializing in pump packaging, pressure vessels, metering skids, engineered chemicals as well as pump sales, pump servicing and weld overlay/cladding.

We are looking for a overlay welder to support our existing welding team at our Airdrie fabrication facility. The successful candidate will report directly to the Shop Foreman and must possess a Journeyman welder ticket, B-Pressure ticket would be an asset. It is imperative that you bring a can-do attitude and must work well with others.
You shall be able to perform the following duties, but not limited to:
- Read and understand weld symbols, drawings, specifications, weld procedures and shop instructions. Pay great attention to detail.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding machinery.
- Select proper electrodes and holders; regulate current and time.
- Join and/or overlay material using manual welding processes
- Space number of welds in accordance with varying conditions and materials to achieve proper fusion, strength and finish.
- Blend welds using die grinders and related bits to required surface finishes and dimensions.
- Inspect work to meet engineering requirements using precision measurement tools.
- Understand and adhere to all quality requirements.
- Assist as required in gouging, oxy fuel flames cutting, grinding, material handling and cleanup.
- Coordinate with materials team to maintain inventory of consumables.
- Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate is required to have the following qualifications, but not limited to:
- Certified in SMAW / GMAW / FCAW.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
- Ability and willingness to work in an environment of constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities.
- Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required.
- Ability and willingness to work around and use large propane / acetylene torches.
- Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment, but basic skills are required beforehand).
- Basic oral and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Patience, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Must be competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts.
- Must be able to hold tolerances as dictated by drawings, written instructions, or industry standards.
- Must have reliable transportation to work..

Salary: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
