The Opportunity
Alstar Group is currently seeking night and weekend shift Journeyperson Structural Fitters/Welders and Apprentices to work in our SE Calgary facility (8700 Venture Ave SE; not transit accessible).
Reporting to the department supervisor, the successful candidates will:
Fabrication of various structural steel components
Ensure production timelines are met and components are shipped on time
Fabricate components to exact design specifications
Read, understand and follow all Safe Work Practices and Procedures for machinery and equipment
Follow existing work standards and look for further improvements
Must be able to work in a team environment
Other duties may apply
Available Shifts
Night: Monday-Thursday, 4.30pm-3am (10-hour shifts)
Weekend: Friday-Sunday, 5am-5:30pm (12-hour shifts)
Requirements
In this role, the successful candidates will have:
Certified Journeyman
Indentured apprentice (if an apprentice)
CSTS-09/2020 or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO) ticket is mandatory
AWP, Fall protection, CWB SMAW ticket are assets
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, cut lists, and weld symbols
The ability to use tools & equipment safely and abide by the health and safety rules
Excellent communication skills
Fitting experience would be an asset
Ability to lift up to 50lbs, work at heights, be agile and able to go on/off equipment, up/down ladders
Working Conditions
You will work in a large manufacturing facility with other trades present
Primarily inside work, some outside work may be required
