APTIM Services Canada Corp is a leader in plant services to the oil, gas and chemical industries. APTIM is a Building Trades Union contractor that has opportunities for Alloy B-Pressure Welders at two major oils and gas plant sites in Fort McMurray, Alberta. We provide on-going support and long-term services through maintenance, modifications, and specialty services to provide solutions that are safe, innovative and efficient. Our comprehensive range of maintenance and supporting services tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.

The Opportunity:
APTIM is seeking Alloy B Pressure Welders (By Hand) for short term work in the Fort McMurray region. Camp accommodations, meals and transportation to site will be provided.

  • Salary: $49.17 (hourly), vacation pay and Union benefits (Dues required)
  • Length of Employment – based upon project needs (approx. 2-6 weeks)
  • Type of Work – Oil and Gas refinery / Shutdown work (coke drums, heat exchangers, process piping & vessel internals, reformer furnaces, pressure vessels)
  • Hours of Work: 10-12 hour shifts (day/night shift available) – Overtime as per Union Agreement
  • 6 on 1 off or 12 on 2 off schedule

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must be compliant for Drug and Alcohol screening
  • Ability to pass pre-qualification weld tests (Edmonton)
  • Online company and Client mandated training
  • Must have valid Photo identification to gain access on site

Qualifications:

  • Alberta Journeyman Certificate (No photocopies of trade tickets will be accepted. Originals Only)
  • Interprovincial Red Seal
  • Valid B Pressure ticket
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience on an industrial or construction site (Preferred) Preference will be given to applicants that have worked in the Fort McMurray region in the past 3 years.

  • CSTS
  • OSSA Regional/BSO/CSO
  • OSSA Fall Protection
  • OSSA Confined Space Training

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding procedure specifications (English)
  • Use different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal, its size and shape, and requirements for finished product strength weld parts together. Including using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG or GTAW), gas metal arc (MIG or GMAW), flux-cored arc (FCAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), submerged arc welding (SAW)
  • May operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
  • Clean, check for defects and shape component parts. Sometimes using a cutting torch
  • Physical strength, stamina and use of proper lifting techniques required to manage heavy materials.
