Knight Signs is seeking a dynamic and motivated Junior Fabricator, who is responsible for fabricating the base of all types of signs, including directional and wayfinding, channel letters, electrical, post & panel signs. The ideal candidate should have a desire to learn, ability to multitask and perform under pressure. Knight Signs is willing to train the right candidates in learning the exciting sign manufacturing industry.

  • Fabricate and assemble structural metal products, such as frameworks or shells for illuminated sign cabinets or pole signs according to work order, verbal instructions and blueprints
  • Develop layout and plan sequence of operations, applying knowledge of mathematics, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage and physical properties of metal
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines. Weld, hammer and grind work piece to cut and bend metal
  • Preheat work pieces using hand torch. Position, align, fit and weld together parts. Design and construct templates and fixtures
  • Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications
  • Lift or move materials and finished products, using cranes, forklifts or trolleys
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Production Manager which are in line with employee’s job qualifications
  • Follow safety systems within the plant, such as wearing safety glasses in the plant and ensure safe operations of all equipment are used
  • Review design and layout of shop drawings or blueprint to understand drawing. Bring any concerns to supervisor
  • Provide feedback to supervisor of any concerns
  • Inspect structure throughout the process for quality assurance and correction
  • Clean and maintain equipment and area to prevent wear on tools and equipment and or accidents

You will bring:

  • Trade Certified or hands-on working knowledge and capability to complete tasks relating to welding
  • Able to read blueprints, shop drawings
  • Communicate and work in a team environment
  • Good eye for detail in the welding, fabrication and assembly process, in order to ensure that our stringent production quality standards
  • Efficiently weld aluminum
  • Understanding of sheet metal layout and weld symbols
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry at least 15 feet; ability to stand, squat and stoop for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work independently and to think on your feet to solve issues as they arise
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Clear and concise English language abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with hand-power tools
  • Understanding of metric and imperial measurements
