Rolmaster Conveyors, a Canadian manufacturing company, is seeking a Permanent Full Time Jr. Fitter/Welder as soon as possible.

Day Shift, Monday to Friday, 42 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm; Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm). This position is for Full Time hours (not part time). Overtime is paid after 42 hours. Location is on bus route.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly/tacking and or welding using prescribed fixtures and proper work procedures
  • Operate MIG welding equipment
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
  • Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisor
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods via established work procedures and apply proper welding techniques
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
  • Position and secure work-pieces, using hoists, cranes
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers and portable grinders
  • Basic blueprint reading

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate should have prior welding aptitude, related work experience preferred
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push and pull a minimum of 100lbs.
  • Must be able to work proficiently with hands and wrists and be able to grasp objects
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to read a tape measure (test will be given during interview)
  • Must be able to pass mandatory Health & Safety testing
  • Must be able to communicate well in English (spoken and written)
  • Must provide CSA approved steel toe boots (measure a min. of 6″ from the floor to the top side)
  • Must have own welding clothing and helmet

Skills Required:

  • Overhead crane operator (valid license an asset)
  • Fitting experience is an asset
  • Attention to detail
  • Team player and able to work alone

Weld test will be given during interview.

Rate: $ 19.00 to $20.00/hour to start ($ 798 to $ 840 per week Gross Pay) (may increase after 90-day probation based on performance). Rate will be based on previous work experience.
