Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

Assumes responsibility for the manufacturing, maintenance, designs, and modification of equipment, strads and cranes, and fabrication associated special projects. Does repair welding on aluminum, steel, cast iron, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, etc. Orders metals and materials for related jobs.

JOB SCOPE

No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fabricates, constructs, builds, creates and assembles equipment, applying special welding/fabrication.

Repairs parts of all freight handling equipment i.e: strads, cranes, reach stackers, jockey trucks, service trucks.

Designs and constructs quality fabrications as needed.

Draws and reads prints of equipment fabricated and keeps on file.

Travels to the islands to fabricate and repair equipment when needed.

Orders materials for repairs and special projects.

Completes special projects from start to finish as assigned.

Welds various metals and performs welding procedures and techniques.

Trains and leads personnel in the different areas of responsibility in the department.

Trains and leads personnel on all technical aspects of their job.

Keeps work area clean, orderly and safe.

Responds to emergency calls after working hours if necessary.

Performs administrative duties including upkeep of equipment files, productivity reports, and performance measures. Schedules workload for the department. Coordinates with various departments to facilitate equipment repairs and fabrication services.

Performs all other assigned duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent and vocational technological graduate with certificate in Fabrication/Welding and repair.

EXPERIENCE: Seven years experience in welding field, including MIG, TIG, ARC, Gas and Plasma.

LICENSE: Valid local driver’s license and valid passport

TRAVEL: 10% travel to both domestic and international Tropical locations.
