We are growing Steel Fabrication shop looking for a reliable, full-time Lead Hand Fabricator to join our team. The Lead Hand plays a critical role in our business, reporting to and assisting the Production Manager. The Lead Hand is passionate about production efficiency and quality of work, ensuring that all fabrication is on schedule and completed correctly. This is a full-time role, with some overtime opportunities when required to complete time sensitive projects. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Normal Hours: 6:00AM – 2:30PM, MON-FRI

Overtime: Early starts (5:00AM), Late shifts (after 2:30PM), Rare weekend (Saturdays)

Job Description

  • Full-time fabrication while maintaining Lead Hand role; keeping on task and on schedule
  • Report directly to the Production Manager, assist with scheduling, materials and personnel
  • Role model for the organization, representing company values, systems and policies
  • Operate in a high pace environment, working efficiently with the team to complete projects on time
  • Outstanding communication skills are necessary; ability to consistently report to the Production Manager, and clearly report production priorities to other team members (other fabricators and welders)
  • Read drawings (imperial and metric) of various engineering levels and quality; understanding materials, fabrication time required and most effective path to completion
  • Complete fabrication QC’s on all products prior to hand-off to welding
  • Ability to independently operate a Fork Lift and Overhead Crane
  • CWB certified preferred (we provide company paid testing if not certified)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience at a steel fabrication shop, preferred primarily industrial fabrication, welding mig (hard wire) and metal core
  • Experience fabricating large industrial equipment for industries such as mining and aggregates
  • Have your own hand tools, welding helmet and other tools procured for use in the trade
  • Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Proof of Citizenship, or Passport Visa with the legal right to work in Canada
