Overview

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Lead Hand Shop Welder is responsible for welding various projects in a shop environment. Important to have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Must also have a strong knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ability to pass CWB certification
  • Ability to interpret drawings, work orders, welding processes, materials, and other documentation associated with the production
  • Capable of applying key welding processes
  • Extensive knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment used in the welder trades.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the operation of shop tools
  • Handle Materials – within the shop and outdoors as required
  • Operate Basic Hand Tools and Powered Hand Tools. ie Drills, Grinders etc
  • Manually lifting weights between 20-50 lbs.
  • Following all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations
  • Assisting other warehouse personnel with various duties
  • Working in a fast-paced environment
  • Paying high attention to detail
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and examine work for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Willing to work overtime as required and committed to doing what is necessary to ensure duties are completed.
  • Proper precautions, housekeeping, and safety upheld at all times
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Supervise and motivate shop welders to ensure completion of expected duties
  • Daily reports to the Shop Supervisor

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to pass on-site weld test
  • Good attention to detail and results oriented
  • Strong sense of teamwork
  • Management or supervisor experience an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License

Please note: This is a designated night shift, operating on a 4 day schedule, with 10 hour shifts. Shifts are 4:00pm to 2:30 am, Monday to Thursday.
