Overview
Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Lead Hand Shop Welder is responsible for welding various projects in a shop environment. Important to have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Must also have a strong knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Ability to pass CWB certification
- Ability to interpret drawings, work orders, welding processes, materials, and other documentation associated with the production
- Capable of applying key welding processes
- Extensive knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment used in the welder trades.
- Knowledge and understanding of the operation of shop tools
- Handle Materials – within the shop and outdoors as required
- Operate Basic Hand Tools and Powered Hand Tools. ie Drills, Grinders etc
- Manually lifting weights between 20-50 lbs.
- Following all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations
- Assisting other warehouse personnel with various duties
- Working in a fast-paced environment
- Paying high attention to detail
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and examine work for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Willing to work overtime as required and committed to doing what is necessary to ensure duties are completed.
- Proper precautions, housekeeping, and safety upheld at all times
- Performs related duties as required.
- Supervise and motivate shop welders to ensure completion of expected duties
- Daily reports to the Shop Supervisor
Qualifications & Experience
- Ability to pass on-site weld test
- Good attention to detail and results oriented
- Strong sense of teamwork
- Management or supervisor experience an asset
- Valid Driver’s License

Please note: This is a designated night shift, operating on a 4 day schedule, with 10 hour shifts. Shifts are 4:00pm to 2:30 am, Monday to Thursday.
