OVERVIEW: The Lead TIG Welder’s primary responsibility is to coordinate and supervise the activities of the assigned area. The daily focus includes managing the team’s daily schedule while adhering to deadlines. The ideal candidate will have extensive TIG welding, mechanical assembly, and structural forming experience in a made-to-order manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Supervises the daily activities of the welding team
· Reviews the engineering drawings to ensure the welding is completed according to the specifications.
· Attends, communicates, and contributes productively during the daily Operations Meeting to remain on task.
· Executes the plans of the Operations Department by communicating the priorities to the team members, assigning daily responsibilities, and supporting the division’s goal to be productive and efficient.
· Maintains the teams Operating Board by updating the daily progress of each job.
· Ensures team members accurately documents their time on each job.
· Completes quality inspection on jobs.
· Guides team in modifications and or adjustments as needed.
· Collaborates with other divisions to plan and execute the projects in accordance with the organization’s goals.
· Establishes procedures to maximize the organization’s resources.
· Conducts trainings and encourages an environment of continuous improvement
· Sets goals for team members to enhance their individual skills
· Performs other duties as assigned, following written and verbal instructions.
Job Requirements:
· Proven success in a leadership role-Specifically in a made-to-order manufacturing environment
· Extensive TIG welding experience, required
· Experience working with stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum
· Display good judgment and decision-making ability
· Knowledge of standard shop/warehouse procedures
· Adhere to company’s safety practices
· Ability to maintain an organized work area
· Ability to complete intermediate math calculations
· Ability to discuss, in detail the status of each job with the management team
· Extensive experience reading and interpreting blueprints
· Able to lift up to 50lbs.
· Ability to work beyond 50 hours/week
· Ability to stand for an extended period
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Experience using a Manufacturing software (M1-Preferred)
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Welding certification-preferred
