Overview

Summary:

The lead welder will lead a team staff of removing old material, fabricate new and fit, prep for welding and weld, grind and prep for paint or sand and polish. Remove and reinstall components as necessary in order to perform the welding task.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead a team of certified welders and support staff, the job is a hands-on position working with staff.
  • Welding of a variety of materials to include vertical overhead and restricted spaces.
  • Fabricate and or modify parts, follow plans or build from examples.
  • Able to fit and weld plate and pipe.
  • Operates and use a variety of hand tools and equipment.
  • Works in smaller spaces and around high-end machinery spaces.
  • Move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands and simple grasping, pushing and fine manipulation.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use MIG, TIG and Fluxcore, welding process for carbon steel and aluminum. Stainless steel, CuNi and multi-process is a plus.
  • Ability to operate a wide range of machinery, small tools, torches, etc.
  • Good mechanical background is a plus.
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual work.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, crouch, kneel, lift, push and or pull materials.
  • Good work ethics and being a team player helps considerable in growth.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, ladder and stair climbing and occasional crawling, twisting, and lying.
  • Work effectively as a part of a team providing high quality customer service.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including and not limited to gloves, chemical resistant Tyvek clothing, safety glasses, hard hat or welding helmet, respirator, and or hearing protection may need to be worn when and if handling hazardous products or working in hazardous environments.
  • Maintain and participates in keeping personal work area, shop and tools clean and safe.
  • Must maintain an excellent attendance record following all company policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook and safety rules.
  • Will be expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs.

Safety Requirements:

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Will be required to take a Maritime OSHA 10-hour class within the first 30 days of employment.
  • The work environment is usually noisy and dusty.
  • Will be required to where Personal Protective Equipment as required when needed.

A successful candidate must have been able to obtain getting welding certificates and be prepared to do onsite welding test for carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel prior to employment.

We have a master welder that will help you obtain welding certificates which will help you grow in compensation.

Minimum required test:

· 4G FCAW, Carbon steel plate/pipe

· 4G GMAW, Aluminum 5086 plate/pipe

Desired additional test:

· 6G GTAW, 316L Stainless steel pipe

· 6G GTAW, Aluminum pipe

· 6G GTAW, CuNi 90/10 pipe

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 – $42.00 per hour
