JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Welder handles advanced/complex welding tasks on and off site in a safe manner. This position will also lead small crews and will handle special projects, determine work request priorities and assign repair orders.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when and where necessary.

Perform weld repairs and fabrication.

Document repair and fabrication operations and time-tracking in accordance with company procedures.

Comply with and enforce safety policies

Requisition parts and supplies.

Lead small crews on isolated jobs or satellite locations.

Maintain properly all TDS equipment to include service truck and trailer readiness, safety equipment, and tools.

Maintain repair order documentation, including repair description, parts used and repair times.

Perform monthly inventories on assigned equipment, supplies and parts.

Report immediately any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions.

Must possess own tools.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent, formal welding training and five to ten years welding maintenance experience;

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to design, fabricate, and repair metal and perform corrosion prevention;

Ability to use arch welders, Mig welders, plasma cutter and Acetylene equipment;

Working knowledge of shop equipment i.e. drill press, cranes, grinders and saws;

Must have an understanding of metal welding theory and practices; and

Must pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit test.

PREFERRED

Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License; and

Experience with aluminum welding, structure repairs and building erecting experience.

REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

Forklift operator certified

Valid Texas Class C driver’s license

Record of safe driving for the last threeyears as shown on a current motor vehicle report (MVR), with no serious accidents or traffic violations

A welding certification, or the ability to acquire one, from an accredited school or agency
