Overview

This individual is responsible for duties that support Viking Projects Ltd Welders & Pipeffiters which may include welding specific tasks as well as general housekeeping and labour in a service-oriented environment.

Position Requirements

  • Great degree of manual dexterity
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability
  • 2+ years of experience in construction or oil & gas industry
  • Reliable transportation
  • PPE including Face Shield, FR Coveralls, Safety Boots, Hard Hat, Gloves
  • Experience operating equipment and asset
  • Can communicate in English (speak, read, and write)

· Ground Disturbance level 2, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CSTS or PCST, Generic WHMIS 2015

· Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple, and changing priorities. Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics.

· Receptive to working with short notice for call outs as per customer requirements

· Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions

· High degree of Safety Awareness and commitment to safety, his/her own and other workers

Reporting Relationship

The Welder’s Helper reports directly to a Welder with dotted line reporting to a Project Supervisor.

The Pipefitter’s Helper reports directly to a Pipefitter with dotted line reporting to a Project Supervisor.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Attend monthly safety meetings

· Clean work areas and equipment

· Load and unload vehicles

· Grind or chip excess metal from metal products in preparation for welds

· Provide manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignments

· Perform general construction activities, when applicable

· Assist heavy equipment operators, foremen and supervisors

· Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction

· Assist in initial setup and cleanup of sites and welding truck

· Participate in daily hazard assessments, tailgate meetings and company safety meetings

· Maintain a positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct

· Operate company vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional and courteous manner

· Operate basic hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, etc

· Operate power tools

· Comply with and promote all Viking Projects Ltd safety rules and procedures including but not limited to wearing all required PPE

· Assist Welders and Pipfitters with tasks as requested

· Other duties as assigned.
