Overview

KML Windows Inc., a division of Andersen Corporation, is currently seeking a Machining/Fabrication Associate. This is a full-time position responsible for providing services and assistance to enhance our technical personnel and support the manufacturing process improvement needs of value streams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with and support all company values, policies, rules, environmental and safety regulations in the performance of all related job activities.
  • Actively participate in plant equipment and production machinery improvements, under the direction of a project leader. Work with maintenance staff, engineering, and production personnel to assist in the development of improvements and contribute ideas and solutions. Ability to transfer ideas into sketches and finished parts is expected.
  • Perform or assist the necessary repairs or services to mechanical devices and equipment following the direction of pre-determined PM or TPM schedule, or under the direction of maintenance staff.
  • Provide team support to customers and co-workers as required. This includes sharing and exchanging information with maintenance and engineering as well as with others in other technical and production value streams.
  • Constantly look for improvements, procedures and techniques which will optimize equipment quality, reduce repair and operational costs, and meet the customers’ delivery requirements.
  • Perform any additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the project leader for which the incumbent possesses related skills, training, or experience. This may include manufacturing and assembling mechanical devices and production tooling according to drawing specifications.
  • Help to develop and support creation and establishment of TPM procedures and documentation, with the end goal of training and transferring TPM activity to process operators.
  • Develop skills and personal practices, accepting responsibility for growing versatility in this position and assisting others who may follow.
  • Flexibility to support various shift scheduling (only as necessary) to allow access to complete kaizen work activities. This is an expectation for all kaizen personnel.
  • Perform other duties across the plant as needed as directed by supervision or management.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have demonstrated on-the-job flexibility and versatility of skills.
  • Must be experienced and proficient with using small hand tools and equipment.
  • Welding, Fabrication, Gas Fitting, Electricity, Electronics, Robotics, Tool & Die, etc. licenses considered an asset.
  • Candidates must enjoy working in an ever-changing and fast paced work environment.
  • Forklift/man lift/genie boom certification or willing to be trained.
  • Must be able to work outdoors (as required).
  • Must have strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and build strong working relationships with internal and/or external customers.
  • Ability to work independently toward the completion of specifically defined tasks, including the latitude to coordinate activities outside immediate work area and change personal priorities to carry out assignments.

Available Shift:

  • Days (Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts)

Salary: M2 ($21.25 – $25.53 per hour)
