We are seeking 3 students to join our Maintenance department with the focus of working towards a Millwright, Machinist or Welding trade. This is an entry level position for a candidate who enjoys working in a hands-on environment, has a strong work ethic and is team oriented.

Position Overview

Upon successful completion of 125 hours of work experience, you may be selected to enroll in the Registered Apprenticeship Program as a MPR Millwright, Machinist or Welder. Within this position you will receive hours towards your Apprenticeship, as well as credits towards your High School Diploma. In addition, you will receive compensation and mentorship in a trade which will prove to be valuable assets towards a brighter future.

Candidates must have time within their High School timetable to complete the work hours associated with the RAP program. In the summer months, it is anticipated that you will work full time within the Maintenance team on our 4-10 work schedule (4 days a week, 10 hour days—Monday to Thursday). There is no obligation for either the student or the employer for future employment at MPR upon completion of the RAP program.

What does a Millwright, Machinist or Welder do?

Install, machine, maintain, troubleshoot and repair machinery, mechanical, and pressure equipment.

Read and understand technical documents including drawings, schematics, and service manuals.

Weld, fabricate, and repair mechanical equipment.

Provide preventative maintenance support.

Additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Be registered as a Grade 11 student within the Peace River area.

Have transportation to and from mill site with ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

Have strong mechanical aptitude.

Be self-motivated to learn, have a strong work ethic and assist in problem solving process.

Must posses a mature, positive attitude in the workplace.
