Position: Maintenance Technician


Primary Function:


The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance of heavy industrial machinery to maximize uptime.

Mechanic will primarily work in food processing plant however will sever as emergency shift and weekend welder on projects

  • Must be able to tig weld 16 ga stainless successfully.
  • Must be able to operate plasma torch.
  • Must be able to operate grinder with necessary safety equipment.
  • Will be required to use basic hand tools setting up a food plant for operation
  • Will be required to adjust food processing equipment will have choice of processing area and be in reserve for welding


RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Serves as an operations partner in equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Performs regular/scheduled maintenance of production equipment during downtime.
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
  • Diagnoses various types of processing and packaging equipment to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.
  • Identifies problems; Replaces or repairs parts; Makes adjustments.
  • Aids in reducing or eliminating production downtime due to plant equipment issues
  • Responds to the line and equipment calls; Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production times.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Performs a variety of building/facilities maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Detects faulty operations and defective materials; Reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Consistently follows company policies, safety standards, SOPs, and GMPs.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.


REQUIREMENT

  • High school diploma; Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • 1-2 years of maintenance experience in a food-manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in heavy industrial equipment repair.
  • Mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic competency.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivation; Ability to work independently.
  • High energy level and a team-player.

  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stretch, walk, reach, twist, bend, grasp, use hands and fingers, handle objects or controls, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Physically capable of accessing/moving through all areas of the plant; Agility to negotiate around moving machinery and people.
  • Physical capabilities are required in all plant areas.
  • Work in a noisy environment (>85 decibels) and moving equipment.
  • Ability to work varying shifts.
