Overview

Western Ventilation requires an energetic, motivated and career-minded General Laborer responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor. Through the regular course of job duties, the General Laborer will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools, and various forms of machinery relating to the industry. Responsibilities will include the assembly of products using bolts, screws, clips, soldering tools, and assorted fasteners. The General Laborer will be responsible for the efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.

All duties of the General Laborer are to be performed according to Western Ventilation operating procedures in order to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and to efficiently perform the task.

Summary

Job Duties

  • Read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams
  • Bolt, screw, clip, weld, solder or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand and power tools and equipment
  • Operate and tend automated assembling equipment such as robotic and fixed automation equipment
  • Connect cables, tubes and wires to complete assemblies and installations
  • Position and install parts, subassemblies and accessories using hand and power tools and other aids like overhead hoists
  • Mark, record and report defects
  • Test electrical assemblies, equipment and wiring for proper performance using testing devices such as meters, analyzers and timing lights
  • Clean and perform preparation of work-site.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices when working in confined spaces and/or hazardous environments.
  • Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Post-Secondary diploma in a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams

Work Conditions

  • Job requires ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that include heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Noise level is generally loud.
  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Excellent stamina is required.
  • Hazards associated with the industry.

Salary: $37,440.00-$45,760.00 per year
