Material Handler

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide and ensure customer-focused activities, deliverables and services.
  • Manage daily activities resulting in continuous efficiency and process improvements.
  • Properly load delivery truck, trailer or customer vehicle. Use a combination of forklift vehicle, overhead crane and manual labor to perform tasks.
  • Fill orders per shipping documents according to size, amount and weight and stage material at appropriate bay area.
  • Accurately and efficiently assemble and package work orders.
  • Keep production mills supplied with raw materials to prevent work stoppages.
  • Receive and unload incoming material from vendor trucks.
  • Complete required administrative reports.
  • Maintain accurate coil inventory. Assist in cycle counts.
  • Assist in the movement of parts within and among workstations and work areas.
  • Perform safety inspections on all forklift vehicles, overhead cranes and yard trucks.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and use all applicable personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Clean work area daily and perform preventative maintenance and equipment checks.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Welder

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide and ensure customer-focused activities, deliverables and services.
  • Manage daily activities resulting in continuous efficiency and process improvements.
  • Review blue prints, part lists and details to plan and execute the most efficient sequence of operation.
  • Organize and prepare materials and components for work orders.
  • Perform accurate placement of parts according to specifications.
  • Perform fabrication work such as grinding, chipping and finishing.
  • Operate machinery and tools in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Maintain daily inspection log and daily piece counts.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and use all applicable personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Clean work area daily and perform preventative maintenance and equipment checks.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Welders:

  • Experience Level:
  • Fitter/Welder I – one (1) to three (3) years welding experience.
  • Fitter/Welder II – three (3) plus years experience as Level I.
  • Ability to obtain Welding certificate within initial ninety (90) days of employment is required.
  • Ability to correctly read measurement tools such as tape measure, framing square, T-square and pipe leveler is required.
  • Must be able to become certified to operate forklift vehicle and overhead crane.
  • Ability to understand building specifications, drafting details, and have a thorough knowledge of metal fabrication practices and techniques.
  • A combination of education and experience may be qualifying.

Material Handlers & Welders

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform written and verbal communication effectively
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; exercise judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity and initiative.
  • Technical skills include the ability to operate material handling equipment, including mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to perform some instructing, checking or verifying of the work of others
