Job Description

BC Research, considered as an essential service during the covid-19 restrictions, is looking for a mechanical fabrication/installation technician to build pilot plants and modify the existing ones. This is a full-time position Monday to Friday from 8 to 5

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret diagrams, drawings and bills of materials to accurately fabricate and install components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience operating fork & scissor lift. Other tools such as: press drill, welder, milling machine, lathe, etc.
  • Works well within a team environment and assist design engineers with improvements
  • Cut and assemble plastic, stainless steel and steel piping,
  • Move and install the equipment using forklift
  • Observe and maintain company safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Experience 5+ years of fabrication/industrial.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written work procedures.
  • Wide range of experience in different domains mainly working with glued piping (PVC)
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Strong understanding of safe work procedures

Success factors (beneficial, but not required)

  • Red seal certification or equivalent experience in one of those trade: Welder, machinist, pipe fitter, millwright, or plumber.
  • Good attitude working with others
  • Ability to use a Mig and Tig welder.
  • Autonomous and self-reliant.
  • Ability to use or learn lathe, milling machine and CNC router operations.
