Overview

Ekona Power is a Vancouver-based breakthrough energy technology company developing a novel methane pyrolysis platform for low-cost, clean hydrogen production. We believe this technology will have a significant and positive impact in a world trying to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address Climate Change. You will be comfortable working in a start-up environment, and have a positive, solution-oriented attitude, working out of our North Burnaby facility.

Along with our innovative technology, we are creating an inclusive and collaborative work environment where your ideas and input count. Ekona offers a flexible work schedule and benefits that include wellness for employees and their families.

You will support the build, assembly and testing of prototype and pilot scale processing plants as part of our dedicated team supporting our Pulsed Methane Pyrolysis (PMP) process development and validation.

Primary Responsibilities:
Support the detailed design and build of Ekona’s PMP system and associated test systems starting from the prototype stage.

Create concept level component and system designs to communicate and evaluate ideas

Perform detailed design of components, tolerance analysis, structural calculations and other analysis where required.

Perform detailed design of mechanical components and structures required for component and subsystem level testing.

Ensure all engineering and design activities are in full compliance with regulations, codes, standards and guidelines as they apply.

Document all design decisions and analysis.

Participation in Design Reviews, DFMEAs, PHAs and Hazops.

Complete fabrication drawings of components and assemblies using GD&T where necessary, and support inspections of incoming parts.

Produce Bill of Material and support procurement activities.

Support supply chain engagement and management.

Support the mechanical assembly of mechanical components and test stations.

Support and/or lead select testing activities as required.

You bring:
5+ years of experience of technology development and mechanical design.

Strong communication abilities both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Proficiency in 3D CAD. CREO (formerly ProEngineer) is the platform being used.

Good knowledge of thermodynamics, valves, seals, metals, and materials.

Flexibility to work in fluid environment where you may need to perform in adjacent expertise areas.

Experience in un-steady, high temperature, high-pressure systems and components design.

Experience in, or deep knowledge of combustion, pyrolysis and hydrogen systems.

Proficiency in all office communication formats including MS office products.

Strong mechanical aptitude, with the desire and capability to help build what you have designed.
