Overview
Metal Hose Welder cuts hose to length, attaches flanges, fittings, and other fittings to fill custom orders for industrial hoses. Performs hose assembly testing for leak detection and certifies for safety. Interprets orders to determine product needed. Package finished product. Records completed orders in Logbook. Performs inventory functions. Picks gaskets, bolts, nuts, and washers, as necessary. Makes deliveries as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Performs various fabrication procedures such as, cutting hoses to length and attaching flanges, fittings and other components for industrial customers
Hydrostatically pressure test steam hose assemblies for leak detection, as directed.
Receives and verify incoming parts, material, and supplies; maintains stock areas; prepares sales orders.
Detect and reports equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervisor. Works in manner that ensures the safety of everyone involved. Exercise proper care in the use of tools and equipment.
Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Completes reports by entering required information.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending manufacturer-training program, in-house workshops, and reviewing publications.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Academic Requirements:
Deliver finished product and paperwork to Shipping.
Properly store drops. Dispose of scrap. Maintain clean work area.
Receive incoming freight. Check quantities against manifests for accuracy.
Stock material on proper shelf or rack location.
Conducts physical count and maintains hose material inventory.
Cross trained to set up, operate and maintain machinery used for cutting, forming, or building industrial gaskets as hoses. Use hand tools and finishing equipment.
Inspect finished products for and conformance to specifications and quality standards, visually or using instruments. Check for defects. Maintain product quality.
Use forklift and pallet jack to transfer materials.
Job Specifications
Skills
Ability to understand verbal/written instructions.
Ability to read/understand all measurement notations on a measuring tape, including 1/32” and 1/16” reading marks.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience
Minimum of 2 years manufacturing/hose fabrication experience
Previous gasket, bolt, or hose experience desirable.
Warehouse or fabrication yard or shop experience helpful.
Physical Requirements
Able to lift 50-75 lb. independently, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
Continuous standing and/or walking.
Good eye/hand/foot coordination.
Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
Ability to work in cold, hot and/or dusty environment, with noisy conditions.
Must be able to become forklift certified.
