Overview
The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for reading and analyzing blueprints, shop drawings and templates to cut and assemble fabricated components.
Key responsibilities:
- Read and comprehend blueprints, shop drawings and templates.
- Follow simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Layout, roll, form, bend, fabricate and install sheet metal components.
- Utilize proper tooling to shape and form complex angles and configuration according to blueprint specifications and/or written/verbal information.
- Safely setup and operate shop equipment such as brakes, presses, riveting, equipment, shears and hand tools associated with sheet metal fabrication.
- Ensure accuracy using measuring tools to check and verify critical part dimensions.
- Complete processes such as deburring, filing, sheet metal forming (manual and hydroforming), shrinking and stretching of sheet metal parts, and bending parts using a manual brake bending machine.
- Will involve lifting up to 50lbs, bending, twisting, and standing for most of the shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Completion of recognized Sheet Metal Fabrication course is an asset
- Completion of a college or other program in aviation or aeronautical technology, with emphasis on aircraft manufacturing and assembly is an asset
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication equipment, sheet metal terms, tools and equipment used for cutting, shaping, and forming sheet metal
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on finding solutions
- Good communication skills in English
