R&W Metal Fabricating and Design Inc., located in Paris, Ontario, is a manufacturer of steel fabricated components.

We are currently looking for a weld department supervisor to join our production team, who will manage the daily operations in the weld shop with regards to personnel, materials and production. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the productivity and quality of welded products.

Job Summary:

  • Organize and set up weld department for shift production
  • Ensure jigs/fixtures are properly set up and used
  • Ensure produced parts meet quality specifications
  • Plan, schedule, track and report weld productivity on a daily and continual basis
  • Set and monitor productivity targets in the weld shop to achieve promised deliveries
  • Train new/inexperienced personnel in MIG welding and facilitate an environment of continuous growth
  • Communicate any product or shift issues including opportunities for improvement with management as they arise
  • Ensure employees are following Company policies and procedures including meeting customer specifications and safety standards
  • Foster a team environment
  • Manage equipment/tools required for shift production
  • Use forklift to assist in moving material and setting up weld stations

The qualified applicants will have the following qualifications:

  • Experience with MIG welding in a high production environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities
  • Current CWB certification (GMAW Flat required, all positions an asset)
  • Familiarity with CSA W59, CSA W47.1, AWS D1.3 and creating weld procedures an asset
  • CWB Welding Supervisor/Engineer Certification an asset (CSA W47.1 Divisions 1, 2 or 3)
  • Knowledge and experience with maintaining weld equipment including Miller welders and equipment such as wire spools, liners, wire feeders, whips, nozzles, tips, etc.
  • Knowledge of jigs/fixtures and experience creating and documenting weld sequences, clamping, etc. an asset
  • Attention to detail and weld quality and consistency throughout production
  • Experience with overhead cranes (jib cranes in particular)
  • Forklift certification is an asset
  • Ability to manage equipment effectively (grinders, clamps, consumables)
  • Experience supervising a team of 20-30 welders is an asset
  • Must have a good attendance record
  • Must have a good health and safety record, encourage safety culture
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment
