This is a 12-Hour Rotating Continental Shift!
Responsibilities for the MIG Operator/Fabricator job include but are not limited to:
Responsible for operating machines and welding tools
Experience on cutting, drilling, grinding of parts to be welded
Butt weld the lead end of the coil into the tail end of the previous coil for all payoffs/horses which feed all MIG drawing lines.
Check for knots, deliver and split the steel coil
Load the pay-off stands and identify the coils with the appropriate color code tag.
Remove tangles, kinks, etc. that cause MIG / Subarc line stops.
Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to production supervisor
Qualifications:
High school degree or equivalent experience required (Welder, Fabricator, Machine Operator)
Machine Operator experience (+2 years)
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Knowledgeable of the Solid Wire Department production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities
Ability to remove tangles, kinks and knots from the wire quickly, in order to minimize downtime of line
Visually capable of distinguishing color codes.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
Physically able to push pay-off stands, with up to 4,000+ pound coils of steel on them, from the rear stand position to the front stand position.
