The Viking Vessel Services(VVS) Operations Department provides strategic services and repairs for our clients. The MIG/TIG contract welder is accountable for installing the required repairs per the specifications and executing excellence with our client. This position is contract based for one client and could lead to future offerings with VVS based on performance. This position requires an in-depth understanding of welding, project cycles, and adaptability.

What You’ll Do

The MIG/TIG welder executes the functions necessary to support this project from beginning to end. An effective MIG/TIG welder owns the success of the project assigned. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Follows all VVS and Client safety programs and requirements
  • Adheres to the production schedule
  • Collaboration with Production Lead, Ops, and other parties included in the field project
  • Participate in all required meetings for project
  • Work safely and wear all required PPE
  • Travel from worksite to worksite
  • Maintain good housekeeping with project site
  • Maintain a positive work relationship with work site
  • Read blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Determining the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Setting up components for welding according to specifications
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Adapt to changing conditions with VVS and Client

Compensation

Pay band: $26-36 / hr based on experience and company welding test results

Per Diem and Lodging provided

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Must pass the applicable welding test as prescribed by the company
  • Demonstrate job-related knowledge; for example, follow instructions on a document, be able to read a ruler, shop math
  • Dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts
  • Welding experience or education is preferred

Requirements:

  • Able to travel to multiple locations within Texas
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
  • Deftness and attention to detail
  • Ability to safely use and lift equipment weighing 50 pounds
  • Ability to work standing up to 10 hours per day
  • Be able to sit, stand, and move for long periods of time
  • Must meet required dress code for projects

Work Location:

Cisco, Tx at HQ

Travel Required: 100%. You will be visiting a worksite to complete the assigned project and move on to the next worksite throughout Texas.

Schedule:

Based on Client’s availability

10hr – 12hr shifts

Weekends not required

Monday – Thursday; some Fridays required
