Reports to Production Manager
Major Intersection: Keele St & Rivermede Rd.
Compensation: $22-28 per /Hour
Shift: 07:00AM – 03:30PM
Anticipated Start Date: ASAP
General Responsibilities
Assembles components together using proper welding settings and techniques in a safe manner
Specific duties and responsibilities
- Observes standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Safety & Health Act
- Ensures welding machine is ready for use
- Notifies plant supervisor of any suspected problems with machines during production.
- Performs welding operation in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
- Wears personal protective equipment as required; welding helmet; safety glasses, gloves, mask etc
- Ensures that weld fixtures are present if required
- Welds components together using customer supplied drawings
- Performs first off on all new jobs and performs in-process inspection as directed
- Completes area of travelers as required.
- Inspects outcoming parts for quality i.e. dimensions, weld porosity, surface finish etc. outlined on traveler and drawings; notifying supervision or quality of any problem.
- Maintains high standard of housekeeping in work area e.g. clear of objects, hazardous substances, i.e. oil, sharp pieces of metal on the floor, tools etc.
- Performs duties in a manner that will have minimal impact on the environment
- Performs any and all other assignments from time to time as management so directs.
Skills/ Education required to perform the job
- Thorough knowledge of welding techniques
- High School diploma plus 6 month’s-03 years experience
- Working knowledge of English
- Excellent knowledge of interpreting drawings
- Able to make welding jigs
- Hand tools; grinders, etc.
- Hand truck
- Tape measure; caliper, micrometer
- Works under direction of plant supervisor on a daily basis on assigned jobs.
- Performs other duties in other areas of the plant as directed by supervision
