The Opportunity

The successful candidate works in the Maintenance department at Maple Leaf Foods’ Brampton Poultry processing facility. He/she works in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, responsible for maintenance of production equipment. This person has direct impact on the efficiency of our operation and contributes daily to quality of our products.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

Contributes to a healthy work environment, while maintaining high safety standards

Operates, installs, troubleshoots and repairs complex production mechanical equipment

Fabricates and makes repairs using a variety of standard shop tools to weld stainless steel (TIG, MIG & arc welding)

Construction and manufacturing of metal work aids

Works on equipment from drawings, written and/or verbal instructions

Completes work requests, applies corrective measures

Enhances equipment performance by recommending improvements and implementing

Performs preventative maintenance and regular work orders, accounts for inventory and labor on computerized maintenance system

Fulfills requirements of work order programs including requesting assistance when needed

Directly helps the department and the facility to meet targets and goals

Addresses issues with a sense of urgency and attention to detail

WHAT DOING A GOOD JOB LOOKS LIKE:

Fulfills all Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, WHMIS and MSDS requirements

What you will bring:
Must hold a valid and current Ontario Industrial Mechanic 433A and/or Certified Welder, Red Seal is an asset

Must have a full complement of personal/professional hand tools

Must be available to work 12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, plus two 8-hour shifts during the week

Able to work overtime as needed

Can work well in a team environment and support fellow team members

Good communication skills, able to speak and read English

Comfortable with heavy lifting (up to 50kgs)
