The Opportunity:
We have an amazing team at Canadian Natural that is looking for an additional Welder! As a valuable member of the Albian Oil Sands Mining project and reporting to the Shift Team Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the Mine Maintenance department by safely maintaining the mobile fleet to ensure optimum reliability and availability of the assets. You will utilize your strong industrial welding experience to focus on the fabrication and repair for designated heavy equipment including (but not limited to) shovels.

Key Accountabilities:
Provide technical assistance and expertise to various welding jobs

Deliver safe, efficient and quality workmanship on the repair of shovels

Identify and acquire the necessary resources to complete tasks

Ensure that preventative maintenance guidelines are adhered to and maintain complete and accurate records

Execute all planned maintenance inspections and repairs, as well as running maintenance repairs on the shovel fleet

Support other trades in the removal and replacement of major components (engines, transmissions, undercarriage, etc.)

Actively participate in continuous improvement; safety management system

Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton

This is a safety sensitive position

Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 off, 7 nights on, 7 off – 12-hour shifts

Skills and Qualifications:
5+ years of working on mining equipment; specifically supporting off road heavy equipment and shovels

Welder Journeyperson Certificate in Alberta and/or an Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate

Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Basic understanding of computer based mine maintenance planning programs and Microsoft Office Suite

Successful applicants must provide acceptable evidence of being fully immunized against COVID-19 (two doses of Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine, plus 14 days after your second vaccination) before a start date can be set.
