The Mobile Welder plays an important role in our service department providing technical expertise to ensure superior customer service in the maintenance, repair and fabrication of parts and structures on remote client sites.

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Operate electric, acetylene and semi-automatic welding and automatic burning equipment effectively and efficiently
  • Fabricate structures from drawings or sketches
  • Maintain quality workmanship to repair Caterpillar equipment within the established time standards out in the field
  • Restore damaged steel and cast iron components by welding, dissembling and assembling relative components
  • Maintain an inventory of materials used for fabrication
  • Maintain and build strong customer relations

Job Qualifications :

  • Post-Secondary Education with a Welder Certification in GMAW, SMAW and FCAW and/or experienced/Certified Machinist for Diesel or Heavy Equipment
  • Skills and experience in Welding and Line Boring (an asset)
  • Experience in a related field and product knowledge
  • Welding experience with flux core, arc air, MIG, TIG (aluminum) including the ability to fabricate steel structures from drawings or sketches
  • Able to read shop drawings and use various types of electrodes and metals
  • Customer centric with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Focused, energetic, self-motivated and organized with superior attention to detail
  • Proven ability to complete repairs/service within established timelines and standards in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • High initiative, integrity and ability to function effectively as a team player
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Cat Systems (an asset)
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours in support of business and customer schedules
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence
