Overview
An MSI Welder Fabricator builds custom hydraulic power units and assemblies from detailed drawings. The Welder Fabricator must be skilled in Mig and Tig welding techniques in order to create high quality custom hydraulic power units and pipe assemblies. The position requires the skill set of welding, custom fabrication of steel components, mechanical assembly, tube bending, making custom hydraulic hoses and painting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Build custom hydraulic systems from drawings.
Use Metal Inert Gas (Mig)and Tungsten Inert Gas (Tig) to weld pipe manifolds and carbon steel.
Measure, cut and bend tubing to create custom tube assemblies.
Measure and cut hose, crimp fittings to create custom hose assemblies.
Check components for accuracy and assemble custom hydraulic manifolds.
Assist with the testing of finished hydraulic systems.
Wash, tape and prime/paint finished hydraulic systems.
Coordinate with Shop Supervisor, Production Manager and Designers to maintain quality and delivery objectives and schedules.
Maintain effective communication with shop and office associates to ensure design compliance, record approved changes, and meet cost objectives.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Foster a culture of teamwork within the shop, HCS, and with other internal departments.
Maintain shop best practice procedures for assembly, testing, painting, and packaging.
Safety
Follow Cross Company policies for safe operation of all machinery and
equipment.
Follow “best practices” and training to avoid lifting, repetitive motion, or
other job-related injuries.
Report all unsafe practices or conditions to your supervisor immediately.
Use established miscellaneous inventories including fittings, steel, pipe, fasteners, electrical supplies, paint, lumber, pallets, and various fabricated accessories to improve shop productivity.
Coordinate with the MSI Operations Administrator to maintain shop stock inventory levels to prevent delays in the shop process.
Maintain the established schedule for preventive maintenance.
Complete special projects assigned by your supervisor thoroughly and on time.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Five years of Welding & Fabrication experience or
Equivalent experience in custom fabrication of hydraulic systems.
Fluid power mechanic certification or capability to achieve certification

Basic understanding of electrical wiring
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to stand for an 8 hour shift
Able to move/slide and/or lift material weight of 50 pounds (often).
Able to climb a ladder.
Able to bend down for low-to-ground assembly work (occasionally)
Able to crawl for low-to-ground assembly work (occasionally)
Able to drive a forklift or other company vehicles
Able to operate machinery such as Mig/Tig welder, drill press, horizontal saw,
pipe threader, pressure washer, paint guns, overhead cranes and various hand tools.
