Overview

Summary:

This position works under the general supervision of the Welder Foreman on the welding of savage or installed platforms utilizing SMAW-stick welding and FCAW-inner shield welding equipment and different types of cutting/fitting equipment, etc. necessary to perform and complete work projects as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • (I.e. Safety, Training, Environmental, Personnel, Customers, Equipment, Job Reports and Coordinates with Welder Foreman) to perform project requirements as necessary.
  • Assists in maintaining all equipment and tools used in their trade.
  • Will test on a 6 in. pipe
  • Assists with maintenance and repairs to barge and equipment as required.
  • Attends/participates in safety meetings and assist in generating Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) guidelines for all job operations.
  • Performs work as a crew member where each is dependent upon others for safe operations and emergency evacuation.
  • Position requires riding in a helicopter and/or crew boat.
  • Works and lives offshore with limited medical care access.
  • Position requires riding in a personnel sling/basket between vessels, structures, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Two years salvage experience on Derrick Barges
  • Must be able to pass DISA Urine test, have clear Physical
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • General knowledge of offshore construction and salvage operations.
  • General knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required of a structural welder

Physical Demands:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to hear audio warning signals.
  • Must be able to swing on a swing rope to board offshore structures/vessels.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Capable of wearing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, and safety glasses.
  • Must be able to work rotating day and night shifts with a minimum of 12-hour duration, and shift schedules of 28 and 14 days.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather).
  • May work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in high, precarious places.
  • Outdoor weather conditions: extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration.
  • Frequently exposed to work with explosives.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour
