Overview

Position Purpose

This position is primarily responsible for performing the welding of components together to fabricate or repair products or parts according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders using the welding equipment provided by the company.

Ensures to perform related tasks specific to welding according to specified instructions and as per Howmet and client’s quality standards.

Typical job duties

Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes .

Takes appropriate care to Howmet’s tools and equipment and have them in good using conditions at all times .

Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding .

Manually places the opened parts on the welding table, asks for help for the big parts .

Consults the router to certify the piece. Checks the instructions to locate the required repairs .

Adjusts the welding equipment for the type of repairs required (location and thickness) and performs a high quality weld following the proper welding technique .

Follows all the necessary safety measures in performing the work and informs co-workers of any safety precautions .

Informs the supervisor of any hidden defects that have been found during the welding repairs .

Ensures that all the required documents of the router have been stamped and signed when the welding repairs have been completed .

Moves finished parts to the next workstation and communicates any necessary pertinent information’s on the parts or the process flow .

High school Diploma or Equivalent welding certificate or welding experience

3-5 years experience in aluminum tig welding

Ability to read and interpret documents
