Hacketts Cove, NS Manufacturing Experienced Full-time – Permanent

Have you had previous experience in, or want to learn, the skill of painting? Do you want use current skills and learn new skills relating to Fabrication? Are you able to work well within a team? Are you able to communicate effectively? Do you have a focus on Continuous Improvement?

The position we have open will primarily be responsible for painting within our Fabrication team, although will also encompass general shop duties that form an essential part of our production process.

Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
Undertaking spray type applications, including ‘baked’ and ‘air dry’ coatings;

Cleaning & maintenance of all paint related equipment;

Control of paint supplies and related materials;

Assembly of doors and panels;

Label application;

Production and inspection of coating applications;

General fabrication duties – producing fabricated pieces and light duty machining operations.

What you’ll need

Qualifications

Applicants should:
Have a strong desire to learn the skill of painting or have previous painting experience, particularly using a spray gun and working with different types of paint applications;

Be able to learn or demonstrate the ability to use all equipment required for coating applications used;

Develop, or have a good understanding of all spray type coatings;

Be able to provide input into the improvements of techniques, materials and coating applications;

Ideally have prior experience in a manufacturing environment;

Have the ability to problem-solve;

Have attention to detail and be able to read technical drawings;

Be able to communicate effectively;

Work well in a team environment, as well as use your own initiative;

Be willing to work in other areas of Operations, learning new skills;

Be willing to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.

Have continuous improvement as a focus;

Operate with safety as a priority.

Other elements of the role include:
Some lifting of parts is required, generally around 5kg/11lb up to 23kg/50lbs;

Movement of parts around the department is also required;

The role requires a high percentage of standing;

Ability to pass a Respiratory Fit Test (required for use of Respirator while painting);

Required to read documentation;

Regular use of computer.
