Position Description

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned Welding Pre- Apprenticeship courses.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
  • Ensures classroom materials and equipment are used to support the goals of the course.

Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.

Remains up to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of hand and power tools, oxy-fuel cutting equipment, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) equipment and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) equipment, as well as pipe fabrication and installation practices

Thorough knowledge of rigging practices

Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning

Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others

Be innovative, creative, and motivated

Ability to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently

Ability to interact, teach and communicate with a diverse population of students

Excellent organizational skills

Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and online learning resources such as Microsoft Teams

Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Demonstrates resourcefulness

Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma

Five years of related work experience

Preferences:
Associate’s Degree in Welding Technology

Ten years of related work experience

Certified Master Craftsman Welder/ Plumber/ or Pipefitter certified by US Department of Labor

Welding Certification from the American Welding Society

Instructor Certification from the American Welding Society
