Support Staff Temporary Part-time Position (Fall 2022 – Winter 2023)

The School of Trades & Apprenticeship requires a qualified individual to assist faculty at the Guelph Campus for the welding programs, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate practical skills to students
Demonstrate the safe use of equipment to students
Provide remedial instruction to those students requiring further assistance
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Responsible for set-up, operation, and maintenance of a wide variety of machines as well as ordering supplies, as required and inventory control
Assist faculty in maintaining facilities
Ability to relate to learners working at different skill levels in a shop environment is considered as asset
Qualifications:
Certificate of Qualification as a Welder (456A) or Metal Fabricator and/or post-secondary education specializing in welding and metal fabricating
Five years of practical experience at the Journeyperson level in welding and metal fabricating is preferred
Proficient with Oxy-Fuel, SMAW, GMAW and GTAW processes
Previous experience demonstrating practical skills is considered an asset
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required
Familiar with basic computer usage and applications
Ability to relate to learners working at different skill levels in a shop environment is desirable
