The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.
Job Summary:
The Pipe Fitter/Welder is responsible for the reliable repair of Refinery equipment and piping. Responsibilities includes sketching, fabrication, fitting, welding, testing and installation of equipment and piping.
Job Accountabilities:
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Operate various hoisting and lifting devices as necessary during the installation and repair of equipment and piping
Works from scaffolds and man-lifts and performs blocking and rigging as required
Works effectively without supervision
Communicates well with employees from all areas of the facility
Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports and hangers (according to specification)
Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specification • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading
Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials
Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of piping systems
Lays out, position and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square calipers and ruler
Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipment • Familiar and compliant with welding QA/QC program
Operates forklifts, scissor lifts and overhead crane • Fabricates and repairs equipment and parts per specification diagram
Perform flange make-up on various equipment throughout the refinery
Responsible for completing work orders
Responsible for completing QA/QC documentation
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of pipe fitter or welding experience
Certification in SMAW and GTAW process
Demonstrated safety training in an industrial environment
Proven ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, man-lifts, etc.
Ability climb and work from scaffolds and man-lifts of various heights
Must be willing and able to work shifts, call-ins, holidays, and overtime
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in confined spaces and wear self-contained breathing apparatus or fresh air mask
Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and climb vertical heights up to 200 feet
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screen
Desired Characteristics:
Completion of an apprenticeship/journeyman program
Five (5) years of pipe fitter or welding experience
OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification
