Overview

The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of Steel and/or Polyethylene pipe and equipment by use of appropriate Acetylene and Electric Arc Welding or Butt Fusion equipment. This position is subject to 24-hour call.

Essential Duties Summary Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; supplemented by welding experience, preferably in the maintenance of gas lines or three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of gas distribution systems; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the requisite knowledge and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must obtain certifications required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six (6) months of hire.

• Welding experience, preferably in the maintenance of polyethylene and steel gas lines. Steel gas line experience strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands

Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
