Position Summary

CIMCO is looking for Pressure Piping welders and fitter-welders.

The successful candidates will have at least 3 to 5 years welding experience in radiograph-quality pressure piping welding and able to pass the following full-penetration butt weld tests:

  • 2G – MIG (GMAW) Open Root Plate Test (Horizontal, 0.375” Thick Plate)
  • 6G – Stick (SMAW) Open Root 2” NPS Pipe Test (Sch 80)

Jobs Available:
#1: Piping Welder, those with experience will be preferred.

#2: Piping Fitter-Welder: Fit weldments with proper root gap, bevel preparations. Those with experience will be preferred.

Current location for this role is Toronto. However, the facility will be moved to Burlington as of June 2022.

Role Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS’s).
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic oxy-acetylene flame-cutting equipment.
  • Operate plasma arc cutting equipment.
  • Select filler rods based upon WPS.
  • Perform pre-heat prior to welding if required.
  • Set-up and operate welding equipment in accordance with WPS.
  • Operate lifting equipment and overhead cranes.
  • Prepare jigs or set-up for welding.
  • Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs as required.
  • Perform all duties in a Safe and Workmanlike manner, following all Company Policies and Procedures.

Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals and processes.
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration and adaptability are important.
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions, plan and organize jobs and tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Ability to work in a unionized environment.
