Overview

Suitable candidates will ideally come from a marine background (shipbuild or shiprepair), but Plater/Fabricators from other industries will be considered.

Candidates must be apprenticeship served or NVQ level 3 equivalent.

Day to day duties include (but not limited to):

Layout, Assembly and Marking out of work

Organise material plates, utilising identified parts correctly
Panel line fitting of cut part extrusions

Sub-assemblies setting plates with correct gaps for butts / setting frames

Welding tack welding MMA/MIG Steel/Aluminium

Manufacture of jigs & installation

Rolling of plates checking and utilising flanger / press / roller
Forming of plates utilising heat line fairing techniques oxy acetylene burning equipment and water supply
Installing sub-assemblies into jigs following sequence of parts efficiently and correctly

Fitting and removal of strong backs
Fairing/dressing/welding snagging

Refit standardisation for inserts and remedial works
Install units to berth join up

Snag to final inspection standard
Manufacture & installation of secondary structure items man holes, ladders, stairs, fendering, machinery

seating
Manufacture & installation of hot work/PO 1 items for cables tray, brackets and support.
Installation of water tight doors and chalk testing
Block / Unit Join Up of sub-assemblies

Moving of units and Blocks into position

Candidates must be able to read and utilise all types of drawings and must comply with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Basic working week – 37 hours, plus OT in line with project demands. OT is paid at a premium
Initial contracts are expected to run until Spring 2021 with a strong likelihood of being extended.
