Overview

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance and Construction Foreman – Mechanical, the Plumber/Pipefitter installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs plumbing systems and equipment by analyzing problems, dismantling, adjusting, replacing and/or repairing components as required in facilities under the Division’s jurisdiction in accordance with standard trades practices, certification, applicable codes and manufacturers specifications.

As the Plumber/Pipefitter you will:
Maintain and repair plumbing systems.

Coordinate Contractors.

Conduct backflow inspections.

Your education and qualifications include:
Experience with commercial and industrial piping installations.

Experience welding, soldering, brazing, and various methods of joining pipes as required by the trade.

Experience using hand and power tools and measuring instruments.

Ability to coordinate and monitor work performed by contractors in the areas of installation, repair, or maintenance of associated equipment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to instruct and train junior staff.

Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.

Verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various colleagues and clients.

Written communication skills with the ability to complete documents clearly and concisely.

Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and schedule work while maintaining required records.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

Knowledge of the regulations applicable to the trade in addition to related occupational hazards and safety precautions is desired.

Conditions of employment:
The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.

Must possess a Red Seal Gas Fitter Journeyman certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba.

Must possess and maintain a current Cross-Connection & Backflow Prevention Tester license.

Must possess and maintain a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services Service person license.

A Winnipeg Police Service Level 2 Security Clearance and in-depth background check satisfactory to the employer will be required from the applicant(s) or successful candidate(s). This position may require a Level 3 security clearance from the Winnipeg Police Service.

A Child Abuse Registry Check satisfactory to the employer will be required from the successful candidate, at their expense.

Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License.

Must possess a St. John’s Ambulance Emergency First Aid Certificate or equivalent or willingness and ability to obtain it within three (3) months.

Must be physically capable of performing all of the duties of the position, in all weather conditions.
