Our Kinston Site location currently has a need for a Process Mechanic. The site manufactures Sorona® product.

As a Process Mechanic you will perform necessary maintenance on mechanical and pipe equipment and systems and fabricate mechanical and pipe components and devices. You will weld, fabricate, rig and perform pipefitting as necessary for the completion of the task. Each employee is a member of a self-managing team, which manages the routine day-to-day functions without direct supervision. Candidates should be willing to be a multi-skilled active team member in a High Performing Work Team where everyone is expected to perform multiple tasks.

Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance functions such as component replacement, minor repair and equipment or process adjustments.

Prepare records and reports that communicate required information.

Make sketches and field measurements, list and order required materials.

Monitor equipment piping and related auxiliaries for general mechanical faults and potential failure and make necessary repairs.

Install, dismantle, repair and maintain knowledge of spare parts for mechanical and pipe equipment such as pumps, steam traps, valves, jets, filters, fans, blowers, compressors, drives and all other items necessary to maintain the continuity of the operation.

Layout and fabricate steel and general piping, including angles, radii and circumferences.

Perform basic machine shop, sheet metal, carpentry, paint and insulation tasks.

Ability to work with hazardous materials.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
AAS Degree in a Mechanical field or equivalent Journeyman Certification in at least one of the following skill sets: Welding or Mechanical -OR- three years related work experience as Process Mechanic in an industrial setting.

Ability to wear protective equipment for extended periods such as hard hats, goggles, respirators, gloves, heat resistant hot suits, etc.

Must be able to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., move drums weighing up to 700 pounds with Stevedore truck and exert up to 75 pounds pull, (with or without accommodation).

Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds and platforms.

Ability to work around hot surfaces and high temperatures and handle hot materials.

Ability to turn valves from 4 inches in diameter to 20 inches.

Ability to work alone and in isolated areas.

Ability to work in a drug/tobacco free work site.

Must possess basic computer skills in Excel, Word and E-mail.

College level Math including Geometry and Trigonometry

College level Blueprints

Must pass basic skills test.

Preferred (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Certified welder, preferable must be able to Heliarc and stick weld (GTAW / SMAW) carbon steel and stainless steel pipe.

Pipefitting and rigging capabilities

Work simple algebraic equations. Read graphs and charts.

Trace piping.

Design and sketching, drafting capabilities.

Have knowledge of the following:
o Liquid and gas flow

o Catalyst and chemical reactions

o Sine, cosine, tangent and right triangles

o Thermodynamics

o Principles of valves and pumps

o Fluid mechanics

o Heating, air and refrigeration

o Control loop instrumentation
