Overview

Position Summary:
The Brazer is a full-time production position responsible for operating brazing equipment and working with a variety of brazing/welding fixtures to produce quality products. At times, the Brazer will assist the Machine Shop with the operation of basic equipment, internal training will be provided.

Major Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Position and clamp multiple parts into fixtures and sliver braze together
  • Clean and prepare components for brazing
  • Braze components using manual equipment
  • Read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, shop orders and/or verbal instructions
  • Determine appropriate equipment or method based on requirements of the job
  • Visually inspect brazed surfaces to confirm adherence to company quality requirements
  • Assist the Machine Shop with operation of basic equipment
  • Maintain equipment and keep a tidy workspace adhering to 5S
  • Safely operate a hoist, pallet jack, and/or forklift
  • Follow all standard operating procedures, safety regulations, and ISO requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Successful completion of Polycast Pre-screening Brazing Test
  • Welding certificate is an asset
  • Must have experience safely operating oxygen and natural gas/acetylene equipment
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must possess basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, strong work ethic, and positive team attitude
  • Detail oriented and quality focused
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and results driven
  • Know and understand the WHIMIS labeling system
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing concepts is an asset

Work Conditions:

  • Day shift with overtime as required
  • Physically able to lift up to 50lbs as well as stand, twist, bend, and reach for long periods of time
  • Safely perform repetitive tasks following a prescribed routine
  • Extreme temperatures (heat/cold), fumes, vapors, and gases
  • Noisy work environment
  • Use of PPE, including respirator, safety glasses, and steel toe boots
