AP Emissions Technologies, Inc. is HIRING TRAINEES FOR PRODUCTION WELDING to learn company operations. AP manufactures a complete line of automotive, light truck, and heavy-duty exhaust and emissions products. Our roots reach back to the very beginnings of the automotive exhaust system business. Today we continue the tradition of providing high quality mufflers, exhaust pipes, and catalytic converters to our commercial customers and automotive service professionals.

Department Lead, Supervisor or Manager

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION

This position will be TRAINED to perform welding of emissions systems. AP will assess each applicant for welding aptitude; trainees will complete a welding training program with the end goal of being promoted to the position of welder.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Weld products to target and quality specifications.
  • Understands the set-up of each unit.
  • Clock in and out of jobs as necessary.
  • Safely operate machinery.
  • Ensures that welding equipment is in good and safe working order.
  • Meets or exceeds set production targets where applicable.
  • Performs and records rework where applicable.
  • Report existing or potential machine problems to the Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
  • Keep area, machines, tools and equipment clean, organized and clear of debris.
  • Ensure that job set ups are properly set up and all components fit before beginning welding.
  • Ensure that machine safety protocols are all functional.
  • Must use correct PPE and dress safely for the job.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must demonstrate very strong aptitude for welding fast and accurately.
  • Possess requisite math, writing, reading and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate proper use of data sheets after training.
  • Data entry skills are a plus.
  • Ability to manufacture good quality product at the set rate of output.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain production rates to department standards.
  • Ability to correctly set up and run the product in the correct order and with the required quality.
  • Ability to correctly follow and give instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate well with others and have good organization skills.
  • Ability to work consistently without constant supervision.
  • Steel-toed shoes required, no sleeveless shirts allowed.
  • Hours as assigned with the probability of overtime during the week and on Saturday.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Manufacturing experience a plus
