Overview

SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, works on robotic welding or tooling systems involving the origination, design, and development of new robotic products, tools, and components and/or the modification and improvement of existing designs. The systems include all type of robotic arc and resistance spot welding, plasma cutting applications with advanced servo controls, 2d and 3d laser/vision guided robotics and inspection, thin walled as well as heavy deposition solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Must be able to perform advanced mechanical and/or electrical calculations to verify the overall outcome of the design requirement/intent.

Lead project kickoff meetings and provide input.

Communicate directly with the customer on technical issues.

Will be responsible for assisting in generating and managing project schedules, monitoring project budget and leading technical resources as part of the project team.

Will be assigned to several projects at one time.

Travel required on a frequent basis. Must have valid driver’s license and full coverage automobile insurance.

Must follow ISO procedures as the job requires and provide feedback to improve our processes.

Maintaining project binder (electronic format)

May initiate milestone invoicing at appropriate intervals.

Able to understand and apply industry standards.

Designs and develops robotic systems or tooling fixtures to meet customer specifications or project requirements.

Conduct (develop) tests to assure success during project validation or verification.

Facilitate design reviews with customers, suppliers, and/or other departments to ensure sound designs and drawing accuracy.

Analyze test data to assure design meets functional and performance specifications.

Coordinate and assist in solving technical problems during debug and at customer site.

May assist in preparation of technical proposals with Application Specialists

Has strong understanding of systems. Must possess strong understanding of industry standard manufacturing processes and their applications.

May be responsible for assisting with closed order analysis on assigned projects.

Responsible for communicating project status with team members and customers.

Responsible for working with suppliers and technology partners to obtain external portions of system solutions

Responsible for preparing and presenting engineering change documentation.

Directly responsible for generating AG revenue (revenue may be adjusted based upon company goals and market conditions).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree and four to six years related experience.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Good organizational skills, ability to solve problems, strong verbal and written communication skills, and computer literate. Must have good negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Employee must be able to work with minimal supervision, conferring with supervisor on unusual matters. Has some latitude for unreviewed action or decision.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Work requires individual to devise own methods, to assist with methods used by others, to exercise ingenuity, to analyze situations, and apply judgment required to make decisions of an administrative and/or technical nature.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Would anticipate about one hour a day/minimum at PC. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, UV exposure, fumes, spark and heat.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Duties may require the occasional use of/contact with/exposure to various hazardous materials (such as, but not limited to grease, oils, lubricants, paint, thinner, parts cleaner, etc.). Employees should have basic awareness of hazardous materials cautions. Those directly using the materials must have specific knowledge of material in use.
